How to Know the Best Size to Order For a Wedding Gown

Plus size brides are often facing the dilemma of finding the right wedding dress. The task of finding the best wedding dress for a full-figured bride is often more difficult than for brides who can fit in the regular sizes. But with the growing number of shops and boutiques catering to the plus size range, full-figured brides will now find the task a bit easier than before. In addition, online bridal boutiques are now available and offer a wide variety of wedding gowns in various styles, shades and sizes. It is very important for curvy brides to understand their body shape and size and to be more confident in showing their curves and becoming the prettiest woman on her wedding day.
Plus size wedding dresses are not tailored using standard methods and most plus size brides will find every store offering plus sizes dresses that are different from other shops. There are no standards followed in the plus size range. This will somehow make the task of looking for the perfect wedding dress a bit difficult.
Obtaining your body measurements is highly advisable to easily find the right dress size. To ensure that the measurements will not vary significantly, use a vinyl measuring tape because cloth tapes are more prone to stretching. Sizing charts are available in boutiques and shops and it is recommended to check the measurements obtained against the chart to determine the best size to order for the wedding gown.
If the exact measurements obtained are not found on the sizing chart, purchasing a larger size is the safest option. Some boutiques automatically send wedding gowns that are one size larger than the ordered size, so it is always advisable to check the actual sizes on the manufacturer's sizing chart to avoid additional alteration expenses.
If the shop insists on giving a size larger than what was ordered, it is advisable to ask them for a note stating that the size was recommended by the shop and get a copy of the sizing chart to make returns possible just in case the wedding gown is way too large from the preferred size. Alteration is often inevitable if the dress is ordered from a shop and this process often makes the wedding gown suit the bride better.
Another important thing to keep in mind is the change in one's body size. Though nowadays, plus size brides do not really need to lose weight to fit into their wedding gowns, some will still think about weight loss. If plans on ordering a size smaller than the obtained measurements are made, it is better to make realistic goals. Remember that larger bridal gowns can be altered to accommodate smaller body sizes, but tailoring smaller wedding gowns for larger body sizes is almost impossible. Choosing the best plus size wedding dress does not rely solely on making the body look slimmer but on how it can emphasize the beautiful curves and flatter plus size bride's best assets.
